2017 U9–U10 Fall Soccer League

Welcome new and returning Blackhawks soccer players to the 2017 fall season! This page provides details about registration and payment, season summary, key dates, and who to contact with questions. Also, please review important information on Developmental Evaluations.

Fall Soccer is a great time to introduce players to traveling soccer in a short, fun-based season run by Blackhawk volunteer power. It’s also a great time to be a part of your player’s experience. We need coaches and managers for each team. Be sure to indicate your interest in either at registration or contact Chris or Dawn.

About Uniforms

We will continue to use the uniforms introduced with the summer 2016 season. Only players new to Blackhawks this fall will need to order a new uniform kit. Uniforms for fall season will be available online from soccer.com at the beginning of August for approximately $85. We will begin a new, two-year uniform cycle with the summer 2018 season.

  • Each player will receive a personalized link to our online uniform store via email when it opens. This special link entitles Blackhawks pricing, ensures proper jersey numbers, etc.
  • With soccer.com, orders are placed and paid for online and delivered directly to player’s homes. (Uniforms are not included in Club Fees.)

Questions about uniforms? Please contact Dawn Ellerd, our uniform coordinator, at blackhawksgear@gmail.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

When and how will I find out which team my player is on?
A. We will announce team placements July 28. All players must be registered before they can be placed on a team.

What MYSA level will my player participate?
At each age group, we will place our players and teams in the appropriate MYSA traveling league division based on our assessment scores and coaches’ evaluations. We challenge our more developed players at the maroon level, while the majority of developmental teams in our club (and in our state) participate at the Gold level. We do our best to make multiple even strength teams at the gold level.
When appropriate, individual teams may be placed in another league, such as the NSC Super League. This league—affiliated with US Club Soccer rather than MYSA—may offer different levels of play depending on the teams registered.

Can my player “play up” an age level?
We allow developmentally-ready 2010s to play up at the U9 level, as this is the earliest age that MYSA and Blackhawks offer traveling soccer. All players (U9–U10) are expected to register and attend their age-appropriate assessments. In some rare cases, it may be appropriate for a player (or players) to play-up an age group. Please contact Chris or Viktor with questions.

Does my player stay on the same team all year?
Teams are formed for the fall season (August–October). Fall players will also be offered winter training and playing opportunities within the club. We will have a January Evaluation/Registration period and teams will be rearranged for the spring-summer season.

When and how often will teams practice?
Teams will usually practice two times per week. Games will be played on the weekends.

What should my player bring to practice?
Players need soccer cleats and indoor shoes, soccer ball (size 4), water bottle, and shin guards.

How can I volunteer?
The Developmental Program needs many volunteers to be successful. Being a team manager is the most common volunteer position. Offer to volunteer during registration or via our club administrator.

If I volunteer to coach or assistant coach, will I receive any coach training?
Yes, all coaches will receive training and guidance from our club directors.

What additional items will my team manager collect after my player has been assigned to a team?
After team formation, team managers will collect a player photo for player passes, a medical liability form, birth certificate (photocopy), and team fees (for team-specific expenses). Your team manager will also provide information on ordering uniforms.

Where is Orchard Rec Center?
875 Orchard Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55103

What happens after Evaluations?
Blackhawks will announce rosters and more based on evaluations and completed registrations. Register online at www.blackhawksoccer.org. Registered families will receive an email notification that team placements (rosters) are posted on this website.

Who can I talk to to learn more about Blackhawk programs?

Besides staff, there are numerous knowledgeable volunteers to contact. These include the following, listed on the Contacts page:

  • Boys and Girls Age Group Coordinators (AGCs—assigned age groups change each August 1)
  • Boys and Girls Developmental Representative on the Blackhawks Board of Directors
