How many teams are there on a soccer field for each game? Were you thinking three? That’s right, three: the home team, the visitors, and the referees!
Referees are a critical part of every game. Have you ever had a great game without a great referee? We are always looking for new referees to join our team.
New referees must be age 13 or older and can be new to soccer or experienced veterans. Parents make great referees too!
Here are just a few of the reasons to become a US Soccer referee:
Becoming a referee takes a little effort, but that’s because we want you to succeed.
Consider attending our online New Referee Info Session to learn more about it and get your questions answered.
Attendance isn’t required, but it’s a good chance to ask questions about being a referee and find out how to get games. We can also help to answer questions about the registration and training process.
Parents can make great referees!
As a parent, you understand the importance of coaching and mentoring young players and other young referees to help them be the best they can be. Refereeing with your child can be a great experience. In addition to helping the first year go smoothly for your child, you can travel to games as a crew and develop as referees together.
