Coaching Experience

Sara “SJ” Johnson has been coaching and involved with youth soccer in Minnesota since 2005, when she was in college recovering from her first ACL injury. She has coached age groups ranging from u5 all the way through u19. She has also spent time coaching high school soccer and a variety of camps. While SJ loves coaching the game, she finds it even more rewarding helping develop young girls and boys into great human beings, while also helping them to become great soccer players. She has been a part of many successful teams who have won state cups, tournaments and league championships, but most importantly she has stayed in touch with players who she’s coached and seen them graduate from high school, college and even come back as coaches and give back to the game. SJ is currently the Director of Operations for the University of Minnesota Women’s Soccer team and Men’s Golf team. She is an alum of the program and bleeds maroon and gold. She earned her bachlors of science in Business and Marketing Education in 2008. Before the U, she spent two seasons at Indiana University as the graduate assistant for operations where she earned a Masters in Athletic Administration.  A graduate of North High School in North St. Paul, SJ earned letters in soccer (4), hockey (5), softball (2), track (1) and was an Athena Award winner, which is awarded to the best-female athlete. She was a captain for her soccer and hockey teams during her career with multiple state tournament appearances in hockey and softball.  SJ is a native of St. Paul and is very excited to be involved with this club and this great community.
